The Knee

Did you know that the knee is the largest joint in the body? It is composed of many parts: ligaments, bones, cartilage, tendons and nerves. These interact with each other allowing the joint to do its job. Damage to any one of these can impede the knee’s function.

The femur, tibia and patella are the three bones involved. Muscles known as the quadriceps and hamstrings, along with tendons, connect the bones as well as protecting them from injury. Ligaments also act as connective tissues
