Every Day Back Health

Those folks in snow-bound states, provinces or countries have the added concern of shoveling snow when it comes to back health. Here are helpful hints for preventing back pain.

Before leaving the house to tackle that snow pile, take a minute to warm your muscles. Simply jog in place for a few minutes. Then finish up with some stretching exercises. While outside, remember to bend the legs with each lift of that shovel full of snow. Above all, do not rush and take frequent breaks.

Vertebrae and the Spinal Column

The spinal column is made up of twenty four bones. These vertebrae surround the spinal cord. The spinal cord is, in fact, a cord of nerve tissue extending downward from the base of the skull to the lower back. Between each pair of vertebrae are pairs of spinal nerves that reach out to every part of the body.
